Summer is just around the corner in Japan. As UV protection becomes increasingly important during the hotter season, we would like to introduce our sunscreen products, which are popular in both Japan and overseas markets.

The sunscreens introduced this time are “ eterrite dual protect forceNC” and “eterrite dual protect force50NC ”. Both products help protect the skin from dryness caused by ultraviolet rays and external stimuli, naturally brightening the skin tone.
These products combine three key elements: UV protection, makeup functionality, and skincare benefits.

There are several types of ultraviolet rays that affect the skin. Each type has different characteristics and affects the skin in different ways.
What is UV-A?
UV-A accounts for approximately 90% of ultraviolet rays reaching the earth’s surface. Because of its long wavelength, it can penetrate clouds and glass and reach the skin even during everyday indoor or short outdoor activities. This is why daily UV protection is recommended, even on cloudy days or when staying indoors.
The indicator showing how effectively UV-A can be blocked is called PA. PA ratings are classified into four levels according to the number of “+” signs.
PA+ : 2–4 times more protection than bare skin
PA++ : 4–8 times more protection than bare skin
PA+++ : 8–16 times more protection than bare skin
PA++++ : More than 16 times more protection than bare skin
What is UV-B?
Although UV-B accounts for only about 10% of ultraviolet rays, it has a strong impact on the skin. UV-B is more stimulating than UV-A and is more easily absorbed directly into the DNA of skin cells, which is said to cause more serious skin damage.
The indicator showing how effectively UV-B can be blocked is called SPF.
For example, if a person’s skin becomes red after 15 minutes of sun exposure, SPF30 means 15 minutes × 30 = 450 minutes, providing protection from sunburn for approximately 7.5 hours under standard testing conditions. SPF50+ is used as one of the highest protection ratings and can help protect the skin from UV-B for approximately 12.5 hours.
While products with higher protection ratings provide stronger UV defense, they may also feel heavier on the skin depending on the formulation and can be more difficult to remove completely. Choosing different protection levels depending on the area of use, such as using lower SPF products for the face, is recommended.

Our two sunscreen products feature different levels of UV protection, allowing you to choose according to your needs and usage situations.
「eterrite dual protect forceNC」…SPA++++、SPF35
Suitable for a wide range of situations, from casual daily outings to outdoor sports under strong sunlight.
「eterrite dual protect force50NC」…SPA++++、SPF50+
Featuring the highest level of UV protection ratings, this product helps protect the skin from intense UV exposure.

In addition, both products use only UV scattering agents, which help protect the skin by reflecting ultraviolet rays away from the skin’s surface.
Despite being a non-chemical formula that does not contain ingredients restricted in certain regions due to concerns about their impact on coral reefs and marine ecosystems, these products supports high UV protection. Designed with consideration for both skin comfort and the marine environment, these sunscreens can be used with confidence.
Next time, we will introduce the makeup features of our sunscreen products. Please stay tuned.
